The Easiest Way to Make A Small Room Look Bigger

August 10, 2020

Trying to decorate a small room without making it feel cramped and cluttered? Here’s a quick and inexpensive trick that will transform your space instantly! ✨

Before: “Meh” small room

After: Bigger feeling space with some depth ?

The trick? Hang window treatments high & wide

First I hung this cordless bamboo shade (These are in all the bedrooms rooms now. I love how simple they are!) Depending on your space, hang your shades 4-6+ inches above your window. The higher you hang them, the bigger your window will look and the taller your room will feel.

Then hang your curtains above your shade and make ’em wide! This room is on the small side and I had no intention of closing the curtains so I chose to hang them the full length of the wall.

Note: If you’re not going to have something sitting in front of the curtains (like the nightstands pictured), then make sure your curtains are long enough! You want them float less than an inch above the floor otherwise they’ll look awkward…promise.

That’s all there is to it! I love how this completely changed the feel of the room, was super easy, and relatively inexpensive for such a big impact! All in all, the cost was about $130.
